EOBA Minor Bantam Championship Tournament in Clarington - August 13-14 The Kingston McCoy Bus Service Minor Bantam Thunder took second place at the EOBA Championships on the weekend. In game 1 Saturday, Kingston beat Brockville 9-3 with starter Will Van Allen getting the win with relief help from Wyatt Crampton. The Thunder then beat Pickering 15-9 with Carter Hoffman getting the win. On Sunday, Game 3 saw a tough loss to Clarington 5-4 despite the strong pitching of Aaron Luchuk and Crampton. The double knockout format meant the Thunder had to beat Pickering again and the Thunder won a mercy shortened game 11-1. Logan Chartrand pitched all 5 innings for the win. The Thunder then had to beat Clarington twice to win the title but ran out of gas late in the 1st championship game and lost 11-1. Starter Ben Cross was Kingston's MVP in the final. Aaron Luchuk led all Kingston hitters with 7 hits and 9 RBIs on the weekend. Ken Allan and Chartrand each had 6 hits and Mac Ley had 4 hits. The Thunder now has Ontario Baseball Association playdowns. They have to get by Ajax for a berth in the OBA Championships in Guelph on Labour Day weekend. Go to Minor Bantam Team Page>>> |
